What Does In-County Moving Mean?

In-county moving means relocating within the same county, such as moving between cities or neighborhoods inside Los Angeles County. While the move stays within county lines, it often involves longer distances than a simple neighborhood move and can include different cities, traffic zones, building rules, and access challenges. In-county moves typically range from 15 to 100 miles, depending on where you’re moving within the county.

This service is needed when you’re changing homes or offices but staying in the same county – whether upsizing, downsizing, or relocating for work or family. Compared to short local moves, in-county moves require more planning, route coordination, and experience. Hiring professional movers ensures safe handling, proper equipment, and efficient scheduling, even in tight streets or high-rise buildings. Book online now or call us today for a transparent quote and a stress-free relocation!

Crew & Time Guidelines

Studio or 1-bed – 2–3 movers · 3–5 hours

2-bed – 3–4 movers · 4–8 hours

3-bed – 3–4 movers · 6–9 hours

About 85 percent of local moves fall within these ranges, but not all. Packing service will require more time.

What can add time: Please note that certain factors may increase your total moving time, such as long walks to the truck, number of stairs, limited elevator or parking access, additional disassembly, same-day packing, multiple stops, or special service requests.

FAQ – Los Angeles In-County Moving

What exactly is in-county moving in Los Angeles?

In-county moving refers to any relocation that starts and ends within Los Angeles County boundaries. This includes moves between different cities (like Santa Monica to Pasadena), between LA neighborhoods (Venice to Silver Lake), or even within the same city. With LA County spanning 4,083 square miles and including 88 cities, your in-county move could be a few miles or over 50 miles while staying within county limits.

What about parking permits and building requirements?

We're familiar with parking regulations across LA County's many jurisdictions. We'll guide you through permit requirements whether you're in permit-restricted areas of Santa Monica, West Hollywood's strict zones, or dealing with Pasadena's overnight restrictions. For high-rises and gated communities, we coordinate all building requirements including COIs, elevator reservations, and security protocols.

Do you serve all of Los Angeles County?

Yes! We provide local moving throughout all of LA County, from Lancaster in the north to Long Beach in the south, and from Malibu in the west to Claremont in the east. Whether you're moving within the City of Los Angeles or between any of the 88 incorporated cities in LA County, we've got you covered.

How far in advance should I book my LA County move?

We recommend booking 2-3 weeks in advance, especially during peak season (May through September) and at month-end. However, we maintain crews throughout LA County and can often accommodate last-minute or same-day moves based on availability. For the best selection of time slots, book as early as possible.
